Pennington’s Jams

Pennington Bear Jam was conceived several years ago over a full English breakfast in Newcastle-upon-Tyne when some friends of ours served their homemade orange marmalade from Delia Smith’s original British recipe. We were regaled with stories of Paddington Bear and his favorite day of the year - Marmalade Day. We brought Delia’s recipe back home to the U.S., and, with beautiful, locally sourced strawberries and blueberries, our three best-selling jams were born. We named them after a precocious yearling black bear cub who had been frequenting backyards up on Pennington Street in Oakland. Turns out, Pennington Bear was a long-lost cousin of Paddington, and in honor of that discovery, Marmalade Day began in the kitchens of the Country Parson.
